About Me

A mom of 4, I blog very rarely, and use this mostly for future memory of when I forgot to capture these events in a baby book somewhere.

No Excuses...

I've just not been in the mood to blog lately. Couldn't tell you why. I'm still not but oh well, here I am.

What's going on lately?
Kirstine went peepee on the potty 4 times on Monday. Not much since then. We just take her when she tells us. She has gone Uga on the potty a few times, i think 2 of which were because she actually came up to us and told us Uga. She told me today once at Pizza Hut, but nothing. And then again at the doctor, but i thought she had already gone. I was in the middle of filling out my new patient forms and so I was going to wait to change her, then all of a sudden I saw the face. But by the time I got her to the potty it was too late.

I had an appointment today for a rash I have had for about 3 weeks, but it took a new form yesterday...welt like red blotches all over my face. and they itch horribly. The doctor had no clue, gave me a cortizone shot in my rear (am I allowed to talk about stuff like that on here? Sorry, Scott), and gave me a prescription for some cream and a pill for the itch. It's only been about 8 hours, but so far nothing's changed. We'll see.

Kirstine had her 18 month appt on Thursday (at 20 months of age we're a little late). She's obviously skinny, but still on the charts so we're not too worried. at 20 months she is 20 lbs 10 ounces. What a fatty. She got 4 shots and Will got his flu shot.

Scott has been reading Shel Silverstein to Will and he LOVES it! I sat with them the other night just to listen. It is so freaking cute. Will just cracks up hysterically at most of the poems. There's one about the skinniest guy in the world, who takes a bath and goes down the plug. Today we were on the way to the doctor and Will asked me if Kirstine was sick. No, I say, why? "Well why do you give her chocolate medicine then?" (that is what we call her chocolate pediasure, so he won't be jealous. he really really wanted some the first time he saw them). So I explain to him that she doesn't take that because she's sick, it's because she's skinny, and doesn't eat, and is unhealthy. So we give her that to gain some weight... Will's response: "Is she going to go down the plug?"

In other news: Kirstine is still obsessed with Lella (Cinderella) but now also loves Tinkadoo (Tinkerbell). I can't wait til the new movie comes out at the end of the month. She's going to go crazy (at least I hope she does).

I'm staying busy with MOPS, a precepts bible study (of Genesis), choir, mops playdates, and starting Tuesday I will work a few shifts at church during small group time (tuesday mornings).
We still haven't found a small group of our own, but we are close.

Exciting news: Danny Wuerffel is coming to speak at a church in birmingham sunday morning, so scott and I are going. And this year we get to go to the Behold the Lamb (Andrew Peterson's christmas concert. if you haven't heard of it - GO BUY IT THIS YEAR!!!! Last year it came to tour in tampa and we got to go. the best concert I've ever been to) concert in Nashville at the Ryman Auditorium. (sorry if i butchered the spelling of that). That is his big concert that he does every year with tons of other christian artists there as well. It's going to be so crazy awesome and I don't believe we get to go!!!

I guess that's all for now. Maybe since I did this today I'll be in the mood tomorrow for some pictures. We'll see...

potty training already?

am i crazy? i'm not seriously considering it, but Kirstine is. Lately she has been coming to me and telling me "Uga" and then doing the sign for "change". And yesterday she walked up to me and said, "I went peepee". it was so cute. i didn't know she knew how to say that.

Other cute things: we went to the Homewood High School football game last night because Big Will is in the band. on the way there K (as always) kept saying, "Wobby, Wobby" (referring to cousin Rob). This is nothing new. but then she started saying, "I want Wobby." Again, didn't know she knew how to say that. she's talking in sentences now. very short ones, but still they count!!!

And she has a cinderella baby doll that gran got her when we went to disney. she loves it, and now calls it "Lella". it is so cute how she sticks her tongue all the way out of her mouth to make the L's. I think it's because she watches us try to teach Will. he is really bad at L's. His version of Lella is Welwa. He is such a great talker, but L's are the one thing he really doesn't get.

Will has a very annoying new habit. He has this weird fake laugh that he does. the first few times it was funny because it was so weird and random. now he does it like every 5 minutes. it's driving us crazy!!! i guess that's all for now.

Will's First Pets

Lately we have seen a random roly poly here or there in the yard so we have pointed them out to the kids and let them hold them. Tuesday morning Will ran inside to get me to tell me he found a roly poly. I asked him if he picked it up, and he said no, because he peed on it (is that how you spell that word???). it seems as though he was outside and decided to go pee in the corner of the yard and while he was doing so he noticed a roly poly on the ground. anyways, i decided to look around to see if i could find another one. we played with a few, and then came inside, and the tv show "sid the science kid" was on (we've never ever seen this show before, but it's pretty cute!) and sid busts out with a container of roly polys for show and tell! how funny is that?! so we decide yesterday to keep some. we have experimented with food - they don't like crackers or cheese, or will's ham and cheese sandwich that he so kindly fed to them. i read on wikipedia that they feed on decaying wood and that they like moisture. so now we have some leaves and grass, some branches, and those things that come from pine trees that i can't describe (not the pine needles). they actually seem to like those the best. and we sprayed some mist in there for them. Will LOVES them and doesn't let them out of his sight. except for when he wants to leave them outside so they can breathe (inside they must keep their lid on). he's pretty adorable with them. he calls them "my pets". he keeps saying he needs to go check on "my pets". he wanted to sleep with them last night, so i let him put them on the night stand next to the bed. they are all still alive so far. we have 8 of them. i'm sure they will "die" while we're in tampa and scott will have to throw them out, so i'll prepare will for this before we leave. (really what will happen is scott will release them as soon as we leave).

cute stuff

i had lots of cute things to say last night, but i forgot all of them already. we went over to uncle bill and aunt janet's for dessert last night. as soon as we started to pull out of the driveway will said in a very tearful voice, "i miss them already. why don't you let me have them all the time?" (referring to big will and rob).
not much else going on. doing laundry and making lists for our trip home in 2 days!!! can't wait!

God

Last night Will brought me one of those little mini Gideon (sp?) bibles that has the NT, Psalms, and Proverbs. He opened it up and said something regarding God being in there. So I asked him where, and he opened up to another page and said something about Him being either all over or everywhere. So I asked him specifically, and he pointed to the word "God". nothing too special or cute about this, I just didn't know he recognized "God" in print. Cool.

Scott's working

so im bored. I just cut Will's hair, so that means the water squirter is loose, so Will is chasing K around the deck with it. she is drenched! what else will we do today??? probably go get food.

What's new with Kirstine?
She is a climber. She's never been an anticlimber, but recently she's been getting everywhere. we have found her on the dining room table (and we have a high one) the kitchen countertops, the patio table, and yesterday i walked in and found her sitting in my bathroom sink with the water on. How did she get up there??? My only guess is she used the drawer knobs to climb up, because there's nothing else around for her to use.

She loves to come up to you when you're on the couch and say "move",kind of push you off, and climb up where you were and say "my seat" with the most adorable mischievous face.

Today I was standing in the living room with the remote trying to find the olympic basketball game on the guide, and she came up to me, handed me her sippy cup, and said "ahn appuh jew". i ignored her. she got in front of me and put a hand on each of my legs and pushed me backwards into the kitchen, and at every turning point she pushed one leg farther and turned me into the right direction all the way to the sink. she then turned me all the way around facing the sink and said "go". i think she wanted apple juice pretty badly.

My favorite is when i have to give her a stern voice in order to make her do something, such as come to me. I'll tell her maybe twice, "Kirstine, come here". Then i get my mean face on and say, "Kirstine Emma, come here NOW". She looks at me and gets the HUGEST smile on her face and just runs to me and jumps in my lap (or arms if i'm standing up). it is soooo precious. this seems to only work for me, though. scott says she cries when he gets stern with her.

WILL'S MEMORY:
1. I went to pick Will up from the church nursery yesterday (for bible study) and he showed me a boat and told me Mrs. Connie had that same boat. Mrs. Connie is his swim teacher that he had for 2 weeks back in March. And I don't think we've even mentioned her name since April. Crazy.
2. Last night he told us that they had the same trucks at church that they do at Busch Gardens. I'm like, What? Then he clarified and said, at Busch Gardens in the sand, next to the big big bouncy thing. Now I get it, and now I remember that those were the same big transporter trucks they had at Busch Gardens.

That's all that's going on here. We're in the process of finding a sunday school, and trying to find a time to get Will his new toy (we'll share pictures and stories later). We think we'll get it on Saturday, since that's when Uncle Bill and Aunt Janet are free to lend us the minivan to fit it in (since it won't fit in our cars).

2 WEEKS FROM NOW I'LL BE ON THE WAY TO THE AIRPORT TO COME HOME TO TAMPA!!!!!! I'M SO EXCITED!!! Other than seeing all my friends and family, what do i want to do there? Go to Sonny's and East of Chicago Pizza (if i can find someone to go there with me).

Gran's Gator Grandkids

Sorry

it's been so long. I have been so busy with work, and so not in the mood to go through pictures. so some of this will be very brief...

What's new with Kirstine?
She can walk all the way up the stairs now without ever putting her knees down - she just puts one hand on the wall as she's walking up.
She said her first "sentence" this week: "Ahn bite. Ahn bit uh appuh jew". which means, i want a bite - i want a bite of apple juice.
She got sent to timeout for the first time for being intentionally mean. She kept opening the drawers in the bathroom and Scott had told her no, then told her no again and slapped her hand. so she walked right up to him and pushed him. It was so funny. but obviously bad and she went to timeout for it. but it was still funny.

Nothing too new with Will. He constantly amazes us with the things he knows and remembers. He loves to go to church now (he hated it for so long because he hates wearing long pants, but he knows it's the rule now and doesn't fight it any more). He saw a kid in the hallway last night and they waved and then he was asking us where playton was. and we were like what are you talking about? anyways, Clayton was the boys name, and they had met last sunday night. so they had fun playing together last night.

oh my gosh

Will just says to me,

"Mom, do you know how I say, 'Oh my gosh' to EVERYTHING?"
Yeah, why?
"I just like it when I say 'Oh my gosh'

Dance Breaking

I turned on the kids music channel on tv the other day, and Will busted out "dance breaking" he called it. Where did he learn that? My only guess is from So You Think You Can Dance, but he doesn't ever watch it with me, and I haven't seen it at all since we moved here, but...

Kirstine Dancing

Kirstine LOVES to dance. Almost every time she hears a good beat she busts out. Sometimes it's just bouncing, other's it's a little tap dancing then a bounce. Sometimes she adds some good spins in. Here are four little clips of her. The first two are from Fourth of July. It was so cute because we let her loose and she stopped, danced, ran, danced, ran, danced. and so on. she had a bit of a crowd watching her. it was just adorable. and watch at the end of the second one she's about to do the butterfly.

4th of July

Scott worked his first moonlighting shift up here from noon to 5. Right before he left Will asked to see his favorite show, which is Star Wars, so we watched Episode 6. Towards the end he looked up at papa and said, "I wanna go to sleep just a little on you" and then he fell asleep (notice the matching outfits. Will had to change once he saw what papa was wearing).
We met Scott at his aunt and uncle's house for homemade icecream, yummy, then we invited them to come along with us to the Homewood Fourth of July Festival. This was super fun. They closed down 2 streets in downtown Homewood, and had lots of kid carnival rides and inflatables set up. They sold tickets for those, 1 - 4 tickets each, and they also had pony rides and horse/carriage rides. It was overcast, but never rained, so the weather was very nice.
This is Will with Scott's cousin, Rob (Will's new best friend)

This is Rob again and Aunt Janet giving K some very watered down free lemonade.

There were some people selling baby beagles. They were so cute!

The hoola hoop contest. My kids so should have won.

Kirstine loved the fireworks at first, but got bored quickly, so papa took her. Will HATES fireworks so we were already back to our car by the time they started with our escape already planned. Scott took him into the car and he LOVED THEM! It was so nice being able to watch fireworks finally. He was so cute yelling out what colors and shapes they were, and which ones he wanted to see again.

Thursday night was fun, but Friday night was much better!
