About Me

A mom of 4, I blog very rarely, and use this mostly for future memory of when I forgot to capture these events in a baby book somewhere.

Man to the House

As soon as Scott kissed the kids goodbye this morning and shut the door, Will told him, "I'm the man to the house now. I gotta take care of Kirstine and mommy, daddy."

Two other cute things he says - and we have NO idea where he learned these from...

"Mommy, do you wanna piece of me?"

"Mommy, what's the word on the street?"

You know you have too much influence on your son when...

He asks for a Zebra in his backyard at Christmas!

What doesn't belong here?

Kirstine got very tired after pulling all her toys out of the basket, and fell asleep on the floor. This is funny because Scott and I had just been talking about how Will used to do this all the time, but Kirstine never has (with the exception of 1 time in her Baby Einstein seat)

Daytona

We went to Daytona Beach for the weekend, thanks to Uncle Mike and his time share points. We stayed at an awesome resort and had a lot of fun!
Here's Papa and Will on the beach (taken from our balcony)

Halloween

We spent Halloween first at church at our Fall Festival and Trunk or Treat. Then we joined our friends, Kristen and Jose, to trick or treat with them and their kids, Giovanni and Adria. Will was a fireman and Kirstine a pumpkin fairy.

Who's prettier?

We went to our friend Ysabel's house to watch the Gators play yesterday. Yzzie was kind of acting like Will's babysitter. They were sitting on the couch together reading In Touch magazine, looking at the celebrity babies - Yzzie would ask if will thought the girls were pretty (to which he said yes). Then someone suggested he should tell us "Who wore it better" (to those confused, it's something in all those magazines where they put a picture of two different celebrities wearing the same outfit, and then a poll as to who people thought wore it better). Yzzie said, "Who is prettier, her or her?" Will answered with an emphatic "ME!"

Lots of Cuteness

Will said lots of funny things today. so if i can remember them correctly...

1. The morning began with me working on the computer. Will came in and said, "Mommy, you have a happy face!" I turned around and asked why, and he said, "Because I love you!" I squealed and made him come kiss me and love me and then he said, "ummm, maybe i go Uga in my pants?" (which meant he had!!!!) What a little twirp buttering me up on purpose so i wouldn't be so mad at him for going in his diaper.

2. Michael was outside mowing, and Will would go back and forth between the front and back windows to watch him. He detoured once and went back to the window and said in a really slow, high pitched sad voice, "Oh No! Where did Michael go?.... I have a saaad face. :("

3. When he woke up from his nap we had to go immediately to church for handbell practice. While i was unlocking the doors, he walked out into the grass and said, "Oh No! What did Michael do to my grass?!?" He was not very happy. Papa tells me he was having fun falling down into it last night (it was pretty high)

4. On the way home from handbells he saw a building with bricks on it. The only thing Will knows about bricks is that there are brick roads near Kristen's house, and he loves driving over them. He saw it and told me, "There's a brick house!" So i was going to tell him that Gran and Papa had a brick house too, but i was trying to get him to guess who. So first i asked him who his favorite person in the whole world was, and he told me "those ladies at church last night" - which makes no sense since we didn't go to church last night. so then i asked him whose house he always wants to go to, that he always says to them, "i wanna go to your hay-ouse (his accent)". and he told me, "i can't go to TWO houses, mom! i have to go to gran's house to make a scarecrow!" (we were on our way to pick up pizza to have a pizza party at gran's to make a scarecrow).

anyways, it was a fun day!

Monsters?

Will is now very afraid of monsters, and we have no idea why. I don't know how to handle it. I keep trying different tactics, but none seem to have any effect on him. And everytime he tells me the monsters are going to get him, and I have to come up with some response, i freak out. What if I choose the wrong reaction? Will it scar him for life (or childhood)? Should I ignore it and tell him he's fine, the monsters won't get him, there are no monsters (we have tried all)... Or should I proactively teach him how to defend himself against them (i taught him how to beat them up, and to tickle them). we turned on all the lights and scared them away. we locked them outside so they couldn't get in..... Nothing is working! If you have any advice, send it my way. or refer me to someone who can! thanks!

We have lots of teeth!

So Kirstine got her 2 bottom teeth a few weeks ago, but we finally have a good picture of them (thanks to Valerie).

She is also now getting all 4 top teeth in! if you are looking at them and number them 1 - 4 from left to right, #1 and #3 had already broken through, but you could see 2 and 4. that was this morning. When i got her up from her 2nd nap, there was blood all over her blanket, and tooth #2 had broken through. We found no other signs of booboos, so we are assuming her tooth bled when it came through. some of the blood spots on the blanket appeared to be surrounded in drool, so that is more evidence.

Waving and Talking?

Kirstine started waving "bye bye" yesterday at church. I think she first did it to baby Gage (my cousin Adam's son). She liked him a lot! But she did it a lot today, and she is sometimes waving hi"" as well.

She has been saying "DaDa" for a while now, but we weren't positive she was actually saying the word - we thought it might just be the sound. But she often times looks at scott when we say it. And she said "MaMa" once the other night. i can't get her to do it again. but she definitely looks at me when we say it.

Everytime we try with mama, will comes up and yells, "It's not MaMa, IT'S MOMMY!!!" Also he told me the other day that he didn't want her saying mommy or daddy, and i asked him what he wanted her to say, and he said "Bubba". So he definitely wants that to be her first word.
Will asked me for apple juice this morning, and I wasn't really paying attention to him since I was on the computer working. So he asked a second time, but he said, "Aw, come on, mom. I want some apple juice!" I definitely did not teach him that! :)

Fort Myers

Last Wednesday we, (kids, gran, and i) drove down to ft. myers to visit faydra and kaden. (she was there visiting her dad). we went to the pool, and drove the golf cart around looking for alligators in the lakes (ponds?) on the golf course. then we hung out at faydra's dad's place and watched the kids chase each other, play hide and seek, and spill bubbles on the patio. Here are a few pics i took (and some that faydra took).

Will and Kaden had a fun time playing follow the leader.

I love this picture because it shows the fun things she has been doing with her tongue lately. She really is obsessed with twisting it. she does it CONSTANTLY! click on it to make bigger so you can see. The funny thing is that i was looking through pictures last night, and i found this one of will (i don't remember him ever doing this, so it's kind of just a coincidence).

Looking for Pretties

Yesterday Will told me he was going to look for some pretties. "Pretties?" "Yep!" "Will, what is a pretty?" "You're a pretty mom!" Isn't that the sweetest thing ever? And the he topped it by jumping on the couch and giving me a huge kiss. I love my son!

Screwdriver and Ladder

Will spent Saturday night at Gran's house and slept in Uncle Matt's bed. When he woke up Gran went to get him (for some reason he won't get out of bed til we come in). The first words out of his mouth were, "I need a screwdriver and a ladder." Wondering what that meant, Gran asked him why and he said, "I need to fix it" looking up at Uncle Matt's blinds, one of which was broken. When retelling this story to someone he added in, "I need a screw, too." I asked him today if he wanted to ask Uncle Matt to get the screwdriver to fix it and he said, "No! I have my own screwdriver!"

Another tooth

Kirstine tried very hard to break her second tooth out of town also, but she missed by a day. Her second tooth came out this morning. Yay!

We got back from our first trip to Birmingham last night...and loved it! I am very excited to move there. It was so weird driving over mountains (or hills - but mountains to this floridian). The kids were great again on the trip, thanks mostly to our babysitters (just kidding), Scott's Uncle Bill and Aunt Janet and cousins Will and Rob, who played with the kids constantly.

And we visited two churches, and although not 100% ideal for both of us, we would both be very happy at either of them.

Pictures to come...

Eating bushes and lizards?

We were driving around today and Will told me he wanted to eat bushes. WHAT? A few minutes later he said he wanted to eat lizards in the bushes, but then the spiders would eat his arm. What crazy movies is he watching that i don't know about?

Poor Baby

While I was on the computer this morning, Will started crying very loudly, as though he was hurt very badly (and my son doesn't cry when hurt very often - only when being punished!). So I ran in to see what was wrong. He was laying on the couch watching Veggie Tales. When I asked what happened he said, "the lion scared him". after more prodding and talking he told me that he (meaning daniel) had fallen down and got a boo boo, and the lion scared both daniel and will. (he was watching a bible story one about daniel and the lion's den).
How adorable, pathetic, sad, cute, and weird is that? That is just not like Will! But it was really cute. I had to comfort him and reassure him that Daniel was going to be just fine.

Also, I forgot to mention that Kirstine's first tooth broke last week while we were in Tennessee - FINALLY! It took a long time to come through. I guess she was just waiting for it to happen in TN, which is where Will's first tooth broke through as well, although his didn't happen til he was 9 months old!

Fun pictures of Will

Here are some up close pics of Will. Some of them are very similar, but different enough that i can't tell which i like better.

The Boat Dock

We started out by dressing the boys in matching shirts. Then Will wanted to ride to the boat dock in the wagon, (he tries to make everything attach like a trailer) but we decided that wouldn't be too safe.

When we got to the boat dock we fed the ducks, however one jumped out of the water and stole Will's bread out of his hand so he wouldn't go near the ducks again.
Aunt Rachel had some magnets that the boys had a blast playing with.

And lastly the boys had fun running in circles.

At the Playground

We went to the park that we discovered last time we visited. Can I claim this picture as art instead of accident? (I was definitely aiming for his face)

Do I see a standoff here?

They are looking for bugs and butterflies.

Wagon and Stroller Fun

Will spent the entire week outside pushing his stroller around. Mostly he pushed it around empty, but variations included putting Zebra in it, also Doc Hudson (his car), leaves, and rocks. Later in the week we pulled out the wagon. This wagon is about 80 years old, and was my grandfather's when he was small. Man did they make good quality stuff back then!We have all grown up playing with it, and it is fun to see new generations fall in love with it.

standing

I walked in to get Kirstine out of her crib yesterday and she had finally pulled herself to a standing position. I was so surprised I screamed and shocked her and she jumped and fell down! (i caught her though). Needless to say, I did not capture it in pictures. I tried to recreate the moment today, but she screamed so loudly when i put her in that position it didn't really work. Next time i catch her i'll take a picture!

first teddy

She slept with her teddy bear for the first time. (she chose it over her zebra, i'm so sad)

fun and missing pants

Since i'm so bad about writing down the cute things will says and does in his smurf book (i'll explain later), i'll write them down here so i don't forget. then when i get the book out i will remember what happened.

we're at gran and papa's house, and will said, "gran, i wanna go swimming in papa's pool....it'll be fun!" wherever did he learn that?

we had a birthday party at chuck e cheese today. the sign only has a picture of chuck's top half. when we pulled into the parking lot and he saw the picture on the building he said, "mommy, what happened to chuckie's pants?"

Cuteness

Cute things my kids did today: We were driving to the mall and will said something that sounded like, "mom i see mikasosky". puzzled for only about a minute until i realized he said, "mom i see mike wazowski" - there is a billboard with him on it (he's the green one-eyed monster from monsters, inc. if you don't know). i cracked up when i realized that's what he said.

Later today he was playing at the foot of his bed and wanted Kirstine to sit with him. there are only blankets and stuffed animals down there. All of a sudden he told me, "Kirstine gotta be careful with my stuff!" as if she could hurt his blankets or something.

And Kirstine just rocks. she's the happiest baby ever. and she does this really funny thing with her right hand now (and ONLY the right one). she holds it out and flips it over back and forth and just stares at it. it's like there's something wrong with it. i don't know, but it's adorable!

My kids are so perfect! Here are some recent pics of them. Isn't her pink outfit just the cutest thing ever? It's like a little hippie outfit.

Crawling

Kirstine is officially starting to crawl now. I thought this afternoon that it would definitely be before the week was up, but she started moving across the blanket tonight. She is now 5 months and 3 weeks old. that is a week ahead of Will.

Also she is getting her first tooth. We have been able to see it for over a week, and it still isn't cutting through yet, but it should be any day now.

And she is sitting up amazingly! She's getting to be so much fun playing with toys and stuff. I love it!!!
