About Me

A mom of 4, I blog very rarely, and use this mostly for future memory of when I forgot to capture these events in a baby book somewhere.

!!!!!!!

If there is snow on the ground, or if it is falling at the time of us waking up, we are ABSOLUTELY skipping church. Not only is it our first snow, and we really want to experience it, but we also don't want to drive our brand new van out in the snow, when neither of us has ever driven in snow before. We are SOOOOO excited!!!!

since last post..

A lot's happened since last I posted. Last Thursday morning Scott left for Memphis for the weekend, and I was talking to mom on the phone. I realized how badly i needed sunshine, so at 10 am I decided to pack us up and drive to Tampa. We were on the road by 11:30. (I had forgotten that Will broke our portable DVD player, so we had to go to Best Buy to get a new one. Then I got gas and lunch, so we didn't get on the interstate til 12:30). It was a GREAT trip, and only took us 9 hours and 15 minutes, which is record time for me and the kids.

Tampa was busy. Friday we met mom for lunch at her work, then she came home to watch the kids so I could go to Caspers to finish the newsletter. I didn't leave the office til 8:30 that night! When I got home Nana was there.

She stayed the night, and the 5 of us (the kids, me, and the grandmas) had breakfast at Einstein Bagels (an old ritual for me and mom). Then I did a little shopping and came home to get ready for a party I had with Caspers Company. Very fun evening. Papa and Uncle Matt took Will to Monster Jam at Raymond James Stadium (so now Will got to go twice this year!) Also Jordan and Ricky Pelham came, too.

Sunday morning was church, then mom planned a family and friends picnic at Lowry Park. We had a blast. I'll steal some pics from mom to post. Then Sunday night we went out to Uncle Matt and Aunt Marissa's for dinner.

Monday mom was planning on taking off work, but then Kristen called and we made plans to go to Busch Gardens for the day, so mom just went to work late. I bought a season pass, and got Will a fun pass, so we can go for the rest of the year! Will and Giovanni had a blast together.

Tuesday I went to work to finish the newsletter, then mom had me go to the Ford dealership to look at some minivans. Then I went to Mazda to have them look at my car (the lining in the roof was falling down by the back window). I was planning on driving home the next morning, so I was hoping they could fix it (they couldn't, it would take a few days. so i was just going to thumb tack it up for the trip home so I could see clearly out of the back window). Then I had the bright idea of looking at their used car lot. They had a 2007 Honda Odyssey with less than 25,000 miles on it that they were selling for $20,000. So I got a little excited. Lots of things happened in the next hour, one including mom's making a phone call to a friend at Honda to see if this was a good deal. He put us in touch with a sales manager who said he could put us in a brand new one for just a few thousand more. So off we went. Dad and I went to look and fell in love, but the sales manager wasn't there so we couldn't do anything about it. We decided to stay an extra day and possibly purchase it on Wednesday.

Wednesday mom comes home from work around 1pm, and I go in and purchase a brand new minivan - all by myself! We are in love with it. We got a great deal, and got a good trade in for my mazda. I didn't get home that night til about 7:30 and was very pooped, so I decided that I shouldn't drive home on Thursday. (It's wet and raining outside today, so I can't take pictures of it, but I'll take some as soon as i can to post here).

Thursday mom came home around lunch time again, and we went to the beach! Kristen and her two kids joined us. I grabbed the video camera instead of the digital, so I got lots of video but no pictures.

The weather was BEAUTIFUL the entire week, and I am so glad I went. We all got a little sun on our cheeks, and really enjoyed the hot weather. I will be able to tolerate this gloomy Birmingham weather for another month now, hopefully. But rumors are we have a forecast of snow tomorrow!!!! So keep your fingers crossed for that. Scott's off getting us Publix subs for lunch now, and tonight we have a little date planned (we missed each other very much this week). Uncle Bill and Aunt Janet are going to keep the kids for a few hours so we can hang out alone. Yay!!!!

Responses to throwing up

So what have my kids' responses to my throwing up been thus far?
The first time Will heard me doing it he was playing in the basement. He ran upstairs and pulled a stool up next me (I was doing it in the kitchen sink), and pretended to throw up in the sink next to me. He thought it was pretty awesome.
Kirstine didn't exactly react the same way. The other day I was getting her out of bed after nap. I had been nauseous all day, and for some reason doing the stairs makes it worse. So as soon as I got her up I felt it coming. I tried to send her down the stairs real quick, while promising her that daddy had her apple juice on the couch. I ran into the kids' bathroom and started throwing up in the toilet. Kirstine stayed put right at the doorway, and started screaming and hyperventilating. She laid down in a fetal position on her blanket and just bawled. And every time I threw up more she started screaming more. I kept trying to tell her to go downstairs, but she didn't listen. Once I was done (and had brushed my teeth) I scooped her up and carried her downstairs. I kept trying to reassure her that I was fine, but she was pretty upset and clingy to me for about an hour. It was so sad and pathetic and I felt so horrible just watching her, but there was nothing I could do. It was also really sweet, though.

Pregnancy thus far

I am a little over 14 weeks. I am starting to act a little more like my normal pregnant self. Pregnancy to me means that I lose weight and stop eating. With both Will and Kirstine, I typically ate half what I would have pre-pregnant. I know this b/c I get the same thing to eat at every fast food restaurant I go to, and I would eat half of the meal I ordered. Almost daily and throughout almost the entire pregnancy (which would explain why I only gained 18 lbs with Will, and only 7 lbs with Kirstine). But up until about 2 weeks ago my appetite had been as healthy as ever. While it's not totally pregnant normal for me, it is much less than pre-pregnant normal. Mostly this is at dinner time. I eat very little at dinner, some nights nothing at all. The other night Scott made tortellini and sausage, and I think I ate peanuts and crackers. and i think i did the same thing the next night when he made rice and bourbon chicken. And 2 nights ago we had the publix brand of digiorno (sp?) pizza (not worth it, buy the real thing). i usually eat 3/8 - i could barely finish 1/8 of it. So as of right now I am negative 2ish lbs.

And throwing up? I still haven't done a ton of it, but I have done more since the 2nd trimester started, that's for sure. I threw up 2x the first trimester, both of which were just water. I have thrown up 3x in the last 2 weeks, all of them food.

The worst was 2 days ago. I was nauseous all day. I went upstairs to get Kirstine out of bed. She woke up so happy and cheerful. And then I gagged while I was holding her. So I set her down and told her her apple juice was waiting for her downstairs with daddy. she refused to go. So she sat in the hallway watching me throw up. And screaming her head off. Laying in the fetal position stairing at me and crying louder every time more came up. I felt so horrible for her but there was nothing I could do. It took me about an hour to really calm her down. My poor baby was traumatized. You can ask Scott, she was really pathetic. And she wouldn't let me go after that.

Other than that the sleepiness is getting much better. I definitely don't take a nap every day. I still get tired, but usually not until around 5pm. But that's not really a good time to get tired. But it's nice to know it's getting better. I have my next appointment next Tuesday. No clue what, if anything, will happen at that appt. So til then...

Clarification

I've gotten a few comments about my last post. I in no way meant that I was bored. My point was to say that we do nothing, so there is nothing to post. I want to post more often, but I don't want to post just to post, so if there's nothing going on, then I just don't post anything. My life is no more boring now than it has ever been. I'm a stay-at-home mom who actually stays at home most of the time, mainly because it's winter so we don't get out much. That's life. That doesn't mean that I don't like it. (It does mean that I am desperately waiting for warm weather so we can go to the beach, and the pool, and to Adventure Island......)

So what's going on right now? Will is working on rhyming words. So every so often when he thinks of a new pair, he randomly tells me. The problem is he gets confused with rhyme being at the end of the word vs. beginning of the word. For example, he just told me that wall and waffle rhyme. So I told explained to him the difference, and realized that there is no word for words starting the same. So I told him we'd have to make one up. Any suggestions? I know it's probably of no use to any one else, but I still think it's important that he realizes which words start the same. I think it will be a big help with reading. So I will encourage this new thing he does.

Kirstine is in her high chair trying to feed her breakfast to Pop (her popples doll). We lost her Zeba this week. She still asks for him before and after every bed time, but she is doing a good job of finding other stuffed animals to replace him with. But we all miss him and hope we find him soon. (he IS in this house SOMEWHERE!!!)

Not much new

Life is boring as ever here. the weather has been beautiful this week, so the kids have been playing outside a lot. (by beautiful i mean in the mid 60s, and mostly sunny). saturday we all went to the park for a few hours. it was wonderful. it was even pretty hot in the sun.

the kids are obsessed with the entire world of peter pan these days. will looked up the other night and there was this huge bright star shining and he said, "look! it's the second star to the right. it's neverland!" so kirstine got excited, too. now every time she sees a star she says it's neverland. will loves playing pretend. he's always peter pan, and k is always tinkerbell. sometimes i'm jane, sometimes i'm wendy. sometimes scott is captain hook, sometimes he's the alligator. when he's hook they have finger sword fights. it's pretty cute. and kirstine loves to fly around like she's tinkerbell.

also new trick we learned. if you want kirstine to eat something, add the word tinkerbell in front of it, and she automatically wants it. (tinkerbell fries, tinkerbell chicken, tinkerbell blue rays...)

Kirstine's Party

Went great. It was nice, simple, stress-free, and not as lonely as i'd imagined. we had Gran, Papa, Uncle Bill, Aunt Janet, Will, Rob, Mama Jean, and neigbors Ava and her dad, Jason. We ate Little Caesar's and other snacks, opened presents, blew out the make believe candles since i forgot to buy real ones, cut the cake, and pulled out the bouncy in the back yard for the kids to bounce. All in all, it was a successful party. Kirstine got tons of Tinkerbell stuff and adored every bit of it. She got a set of Tinkerbell dishes from us, and an awesome kitchen from Gran and Papa, and her and Will are having a BLAST playing with it. We took pictures and will get them up here soon. But our computer is on the fritz right now, and our keyboard and mouse are locked up, so I need to fix them (I'm on my work computer right now).
